This last Saturday we had a Birthday party for our Cupcake!! She was so stinkin' excited. Grandma and Grandpa Tucker came and brought her a PRINCESS bike. She LOVES that thing to death, every morning she asks to ride her bike. She has quite mastered it but is almost there. Uncle Tyrel gave her some little piggies and oh boy was she excited. Those pigs go everywhere with her. She also received more Dora stuff and is the happiest little girl on the earth. We had so much fun having our family out for the weekend. We were able to accomplish a few other little project also.

Koriann absolutely loves her Grandpa, and I think he like her a LITTLE!! She has the best time when her grandparents come, she plays so hard and is completely wore out bu the end of the day!

The Gender Issue?

Zeke and I was talking last night how people in our society are so fixed on having boys!!??

I was first introduced to this when we found out that Koriann was going to be a girl. I had several people ask me, "Is Zeke okay with that?" It honestly caught me so off guard, at first, I didn't understand what they meant. I guess they thought that since Zeke is a COWBOY that he would automatically want a boy to share his hobbies with. But what an insulting comment! Obviously they don't know Zeke very well if they think he would care or be dissapointed that we were having a girl. Come on people!

I think our society is obsessed with families having one of each--as if you are not a complete family without it. Oh brother! I'm not sure if people realize, but we (Zeke and I) have no control over the gender of our children. In fact, I can honestly say that I don't care what we have. I believe spirits are sent to our home that will best complete our family and our mission in this life. We will get the spirit that is meant to come to our family and who I am to question what Heavenly Father has in store for us? When people ask if we were hoping for a boy, I feel like replying, "What I'm hoping for is that it's healthy. I'm hoping I have a smooth pregnancy and delivery with no complications. That is the only thing I am hoping for." I have several friends/family members who have children of the same gender and I will see people (strangers to me) post of their FB wall things like: "Just keep trying! Eventually you'll get your girl/boy" I think, how rude! As my friend pointed out many years ago (before this was even an issue for me), she said, "When you get pregnant, you need to want a baby...not a boy or a girl."

And just another side note: I also several friends/family members who struggle with getting pregnant period. What a silly thing to worry about whether we will have a boy or a girl when so many people in this world struggle.

We love our girls so much and they love each other, isn't that all that really matters in the end!!

When it Rains

I feel so very grateful for recent inspiring information that has sung truth to my soul. I feel like there are so many things I would like to share but I do not know where to begin. My thoughts are drawn to the magnificent and different roles of men and women. We each have a purpose unique to our gender that carries great responsibility and power. We are expected to embrace those gifts, challenges, responsibilities and build up righteous families where children are welcomed and loved. They are taught what God feels like from their mothers. Am I creating an environment that allows the spirit to teach us (both myself and my children) of God's love and goodness? My dear husband as man, father, is to teach who God is and what righteous dominion looks like. I want to build on these basic foundations of gender responsibilities.

I have been blessed with 2 beautiful children. I have never worked outside the home. I have never been asked to help in providing for my family. As I recently visited with some amazing women about these different roles I am coming to realize that I am not selfish for not joining my husband in earning money. That is his responsibility. My job is at home as nurturer. He has the challenge of providing, protecting, and presiding in the home. He is better able to do that knowing that I trust him to do his best in meeting our needs. I must express gratitude for all of his efforts. My stewardship becomes being content at home, being content with what he is able to provide, and using those resources wisely to create a home where he is honored, cared for, and appreciated. He trusts me to teach our children. He provides a safe environment and I bring beauty to that environment by bringing order. My job to keep house, care for children, train them to be the kind of people that I want to be around is plenty demanding and rewarding.

Staying home does not mean I am lazy, uneducated, unskilled. It simply means that I have put my faith in God and his plan for me. It simply means that I must always seek his will first. It means that exercising faith in my situation has required not having a career to fall back on - just in case. I do realize that many are led to formal education and career but I also realize that there are great things, even more important things that we as women are called to do. We are given the education, learning experiences, and inspiration that we need and will need to succeed in fulfilling our roles as women.

At General Conference we were one again reminded of the vital roles of men and women, especially as we seek to be disciples of God. I am grateful for living prophets who continue to remind us, teach us, and clarify so that we may become more of that which God created us to be.
